Francesc Fàbregas i Soler
Cesc Fabregas joins the FC Barcelona first team in the summer of 2011, from Arsenal, and becomes the second signing for the 2011/12 season. He’s presented as a new Barça player on August 15th, 2011.
Cesc Fabregas came through the youth ranks of FC Barcelona, from 10 to 16 years of age, when he signed for Arsenal. There he became the youngest player to make his debut, and the youngest goalscorer, in the history of the ‘Gunners’. His rapid progression made him a vital player for Arsene Wenger, who played him in more than 30 games in the Premier League since the 2004/05 season. In 2008, only 21 years old and already considered a world star, Cesc was given the captain's armband for Arsenal.
In eight seasons at the English club, Cesc played a total of 303 games and scored 57 goals, a really high figure for a midfielder. In addition, he made so many goal assists for the team during these years. Apart from the odd injury, the worst thing for Cesc is the lack of titles he’s won with Arsenal. A 2004 Community Shield and the FA Cup in 2005 are all that he’s won. In Europe, Arsenal's best season was 2005/06, when they reached the final of the Champions League, losing 2-1 against FC Barcelona with Cesc in their line-up.
On August 15th he signed a contract that ties him to FC Barcelona for the next five seasons. His buyout clause is 200 million Euros.
Cesc Fabregas made his Spanish International debut aged 18, and with the national side won the European Championships in 2008 and the World Cup in 2010. He gave the pass for Iniesta's goal in the Final to win the World Cup for Spain.
PROFILE Cesc Fabregas can play in all midfield positions. He can act as defensive center mid, left or right midfield pivot, or even just behind the striker. He stands out for his great ability to get into the box, and his goal assists. With him on the pitch, his teammates play better.
